Fenway Big Air - Practice

Tonight, under the lights of Fenway park. The very first skiers went out to shred a massive jump, built in the middle of the stadium for the first practice of the World Cup Big Air event. At 140 feet high, the jump itself is a 60-foot gap. That takes you from the back of center field, all the way to home plate in 9 seconds. A true marvel to behold, as the scaffolding structure goes overtakes the historic field.

For our first practice it was split into 3 different groups who would each get an hour and half to hit the jump. This was my first experience hitting a scaffolding jump, and it was sick. Definitely a little nerve wracking on the first hit, and on my second hit, I took the jump a little short and created a 6-inch divot on the knuckle. But after that it started to feel more and more like a normal park jump, and by the end of practice I was able to do my tricks.

The Squad post-practice.

Following my group’s practice, I went up to the State Street Pavilion to hang out, take some pics, along with starting to explain the game of Baseball to Jesper Tjader.

Looking forward to seeing what Friday will bring. Tomorrow is the snowboarder’s competition!
