St. Anton – Innsbruck - Germany - Tourists

After leaving La Clusaz, Robby and I decided to go meet up with our friends Jeff Schmuck and Chelsea Kinnee in St. Anton – Arlberg Austria. Schmuck and Chelsea greeted us at the train station and helped get our bags to this amazing hotel called Valluga. After chilling around and getting some food, we decided to go and check out the night life a bit.

The next day we enjoyed a very fun and mellow day. Woke up late, got breakfast at the hotel, and went to go ski. It was so warm skiing around, and as usual the mountains were gorgeous.

We had a fun time taking laps and enjoying our time, until we went to check out the Apres scene.  Apres for those who aren’t familiar is the time after skiing when you sit down with friends and have a few drinks. I’ve gotten the chance to participate in a couple of Apres times the last couple of years, but nothing comes even close to what I witnessed in St. Anton. I’ve never seen so many people participating in Apres, and was very entertaining to watch and be apart of.

Following that we headed back to the hotel for a quick dinner, and after getting dressed went back up to the hill to watch a ski show.

This was the first ski show I’ve watched in a long time, and was very entertaining as it went through the times of our sport, and the history of St. Anton. Robby decided to try out the show and jump with a couple of freestyle guys. Wasn't able to get any good photos unfortunately, but still entertaining to watch. After the show it was back to the hotel, and a late and very sleepy night.

The next day all of us headed over to Innsbruck for a couple of days. This was my first time over to Innsbruck, and I can easily say was one of my favorite cities I’ve been to over here in Europe so far. Clean, easy to get around, very pretty, and surrounded with mountains.  Everything was relatively close so for those two days we got some good walking in.

While in Innsbruck Katie came up from Italy to hang out for the weekend. After those fun couple of days were up, it was time for us to say bye to Schmuck and Chelsea and head over to Switzerland to meet up with a few buddies.

We ended up staying one night, and then decided to take a quick trip up to Germany to visit one of Robby's old friends named Andi who lived near Frankfurt. For two nights we got to spend time with an amazing family, while getting shown around the area thanks to Andi. He drove us on the autobahn, took us to see a huge castle in Heidleberg, and take us out to eat some schnitzel. All in all, a great first time ever in Germany.

The next morning it was time for Robby and I to head over to Silvaplana for the World Cup. Special thanks to Jeff and Chelsea for inviting Robby and I to come ski and hangout with them a couple of days, and to Mark and Sean for letting us crash at there place and showing us around Innsbruck a bit. And another special thanks to Andi and his family for letting me and Robby stay with them. Such amazing people, and I hope to meet them again one day.

Till the next post,
